The Winter season has passed in such a whirlwind here in Gunnison and now spring is upon us.We had some great snow this winter which means according to the local Park Rangers that Blue Mesa will probably fill up again this summer!

The snow in the valley is melting fast now and we are seeing day temperatures in the high 40’s. There is still plenty of snow in the high country though and folks are still enjoying great skiing..it is also good news for the wonderful summer wild flowers in the area!

We hear that the fishing is pretty good right now..there is still some ice fishing taking place on Blue Mesa and as the rivers thaw out we are seeing fishermen out on the riverbanks.

Gunnison is slowly waking up after the slow winter months…lots of fun things to look forward to this summer..: “The Local Market” opened it’s doors this winter and selling local foods and other local products, the I Bar is planning it’s line up of live music and a couple of new restaurants will be heading towards their first summer.

At Mesa Campground we are slowly getting back into the swing of things. Not much can be done until all the snow has melted and the ground dried up…mud season can be a little frustrating! We are however taking reservations for the summer and it looks to be a good summer  coming up.

We have a new modern look website. Our map is interactive and if you click on the little icons above the sites- this opens up photos of those sites.

If you have not made your reservations for the summer give us a call on 970 641 3186 and we will be happy to help you chose the right site for you! Visitors describe this area  as authentic … unspoiled … unpretentious … Western heritage; dramatic, unspoiled natural beauty; genuinely friendly, unpretentious people. The gateway to this special place is the City of Gunnison. Retaining much of its historic Western ranching heritage, Gunnison is home to “Cattlemen’s Days,” the oldest rodeo celebration in Colorado.

We look forward to meeting new folks and seeing old friends again!
